Lakeland Parking Lot Paving Made of Asphalt Is The Most Sustainable Choice

Plant City parking lot pavingWhen it comes to Lakeland parking lot paving, there is only one material we should think of—asphalt. It is clearly the most sustainable paving material for constructing pavements, as well as highways, airport runways, parking lots, and driveways. Rarely will you see one of the abovementioned pavements as being made out of concrete rather than asphalt. In America alone, asphalt is clearly the winner.

Data released by the Federal Highway Administration divulged how environment-friendly asphalt is. According to the FHA, over 99 percent of asphalt pavement reclaimed from roads have been used in the construction of new pavements. This means that the environment does not need to cough up asphalt and its binders every time there is a new road or pavement that needs to be constructed.

The presence of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) and Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS) in the market also reduced the need to use liquid asphalt binder. In fact, the FHA said that in 2011, more than 3.7 million tons of liquid asphalt binder were saved because of RAP and RAS.

Since 2009, there is an upward trend on the production of environment-friendly warm mix asphalt (WMA). The figures speak for themselves. The figure, 69 million tons, were up 67 percent from 2010 and over 300 percent since 2009.

Rubber from scrap tires is literally and figuratively waste product already. These are scraps. They are almost of no use, except for the fact that it can enhance asphalt paving mixtures, which then increases the life of asphalt.

Asphalt pavement is the most sustainable choice for pavements because of one simple principle: it is environment-friendly, meaning to say that all the resources of the asphalt pavement depend, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability of materials is important in order to continue having water and basic resources to protect human health and the environment.

The asphalt paving industry has been a leader in the area of sustainability for many years. Each asphalt pavement company has made strides in producing materials for the pavement that can be reused or recycled. That is why when you need to have a pavement constructed for your business or your home, asphalt is the leading choice of material.

There is no limit to how many times the process of recycle can be repeated. A recycled asphalt pavement can be recycled again after a few years. The waste that comes from the process can also be reduced to minimize the strain on the environment.
